“In 1971, a group of Catholics, most of them interrelated, established a mobile home park east of Spiro. They met with the Poteau pastor, who encouraged them to attend Mass at Poteau, and determined that they intended to put down permanent roots. In time Bishop Ganter authorized him to purchase land near the mobile home park and hire an architect.”
